MIM- Bedcerdize leg lift – As you may remember, the idea behind move-it Monday is to incorporate exercise into your daily life so that – although you can run to the gym every day – you can still exercise even if you don’t have time or manage to talk yourself out of going.
When you can exercise before you even get out of bed, it’s kind of hard to come up with an excuse as to why you couldn’t do something good for your body. Today let’s do some leg lifts. To do this, you’re lying on your back with your arms by your side and your legs straight. Now lift your right leg while you’re pressing the back of the left leg into the bed. Hold it for like a count of ten then switch. You should feel this in your core.
A couple of important notes: you want to be under the covers when you do this. Use the sheets and blankets as a natural resistance. At most you want your leg a foot from the mattress and about 6” is probably perfect.
TAGRT – Desire – We’re out of the intro for Napoleon’s Hill’s book, Think & Grow Rich, and we’re ready to learn the 1st step to riches, desire. If you’ve convinced yourself that you don’t want riches, it’s going to be very unlikely that you’ll attract any. I hear people say that they don’t want more money and that’s it’s a distraction, a responsibility, etc. but go ahead and try it out. If you don’t like it, you can always give it away.
Napoleon Hill talks about Edwin C Barnes, who we met in episode 6, who had a burning desire to be the partner of Thomas Edison. To manifest truly great wealth, you’d need that kind of definiteness of purpose, to know exactly what you want. I saw the film Harriet the other night – have you seen it? She says she’ll either succeed or die. That’s what earned Harriet Tubman a place in history and that’s what we all need to attract great wealth. That’s why I say you have to have a purpose beyond money. I’m never going to say I’m going to acquire a million dollars or die trying. There has to be a passion back of that goal – like I’m going to give my children a future by earning enough money to send them to a great college or to create a legacy for them through my real estate investments. That passion is why so many have been able to build great wealth from great challenge. What do you most want to be or do or have? Are you willing to put all of your focus into attaining that goal? If you haven’t already, go see the movie Harriet. Listen when people tell her something can’t be done and see if you can find something that creates that kind of passion within you. That’s desire.
WAWW – Things are going really well for me. Even as I speak, I’m house hacking! My single-family ranch-style house is being converted into a 2-family home. When it’s done, I’m going to rent both sides on Airbnb. I’m right on the beach here in Revere so I think it will be rented all summer. For the winter, I’m setting it up so that I can combine the two spaces if no one is renting. I can give visiting friends and family their own space while allowing us to easily connect, or just have the benefit of more space and two kitchens for entertaining. I’m going to have a killer party as soon as it’s done. If you want to be on the guest list, let me know.
I’m also working on my second book. In some ways, it’s a cop-out because I have not yet done the work of promoting the first book, Empower Your Inner Millionaire, A Woman’s Guide to Financial Independence through Real Estate Investing, which you can buy today on Amazon for only $2.99. The new book appears as a paragraph in Empower Your Inner Millionaire and I’m expanding and explaining it in this new book called the Ten-Year Plan. I’ve been getting up an hour earlier and spending that time writing. It’s great.

TYT – For this week’s Thank-you Thursday, I want to express my gratitude for my coworkers and specifically Martha Decter. I suspected that RE/MAX Unlimited was the right place for me after the broker, Elias Papadopoulos, took me to Legal Seafood to talk about my possibly working with him. If you know me, you know I love a great meal. Other companies that had tried to woo me took me to places like Panera – just saying. Elias invited me to a training class they were having and when I walked into the office, Martha Decter was behind the front desk. She greeting me with this huge smile and just enveloped me with her warmth and positive energy. At the training, the other agents were so friendly and welcoming that I felt immediately at home. I am very aware that not everyone is lucky enough to have that kind of a working environment and I am very grateful to Elias for creating that kind of a work family and as Martha transitions to another job much closer to her home, I am so grateful for all of her help and support and hugs over the past five years.
How about you? What person or situation or event fills you with gratitude? If this isn’t easy for you, can you be grateful that you were able to get out of bed this morning without help? Many people can’t do that. Were you able to see the clock without glasses? Be grateful for your excellent vision. Do you have enough to eat? Not everyone does. Feel grateful for that. Allow that feeling to fill your heart. That’s a great way to start the day.

SMS – Have you ever heard of earthing or grounding? Not earthling like “take me to your leader,” earthing is the practice of putting your hands and feet on the bare ground and allowing your free radicals to find friends. Here’s an excerpt from an article in the Journal of Environmental and Public Health: “… the influx of free electrons absorbed into the body through direct contact with the Earth likely neutralize [reactive oxygen species (ROS, or in popular terms, free radicals)] and thereby reduce acute and chronic inflammation. I’ll put a link to the entire article on the website, along with a link to a film trailer with some more info.
In plain English, the earth’s surface has a supply of electrons that is constantly being replenished by the electrical energy in the global atmosphere. Those electrons match up with the free radicals in your body. This grounds your body, literally and figuratively, and studies have shown that it reduces inflammation, makes people calmer, they sleep better, and can reduce the discomfort of a multitude of diseases.
So now you might be saying, Chris, if earthing is so great, why am I just hearing about it now. Well, you know I’m not a cynical person but just economics – who is going to make money by your going into the backyard barefoot? Seriously, in whose interest is it to pay money to buy ads to tell you to go to the beach and walk around barefoot? There are some companies who make products like shoes with copper that allow you to get the benefits of grounding without taking off your shoes but until Nike comes out with an earthing shoe, I don’t think it will get more than a flash of attention. Now it turns out that you can pay to get into the Journal of Environmental and Public Health and this could all be snake oil but really, what’s the harm in giving it a try?
